We typically impliment a method known as yokohagi, where wood strips are aligned side by side. Aligning the wood in this way offers freedom in creating complex variations in vertical and horizontal size, as well as thickness. One other notable benefit to this method is that it also minimizes the effects of warping and other distortions.
